Connecting the Dots. Earthing update...Results.

This quote from Steve Jobs speaks to me:

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards.  So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.  You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.   This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”

So I am attempting to connect the dots on this Earthing thing.  Here is what I know so far.

I am always trying something new in the health arena.  I am especially fascinated with holistic options and read quite a bit about them. I am constantly telling myself there has to be a natural way to approach an issue.

When I was four I developed psoriasis.  You know the slogan, the “Heartbreak of psoriasis”.  Well, it has plagued me for 50 years.  It was pretty bad when I was young.  I went to the Sun box, used all kinds of creams and drugs to rid myself of this pestering issue. Nothing worked long term.  In more recent years—it has been under control and only raises its scales in specific places.  I don’t worry about it very much.

In late 2014 I decided to go on the psoriasis diet.  I read a book and the results people described were awesome. So I tried it.  Imagine that, if it requires discipline and results are promised I am on board much to the chagrin of those around me.   I can be somewhat annoying with these things. Three months I did this diet.  The premise was you test your urine like five times a day to see if the diet makes you more alkaline.   If you are alkaline, the psoriasis like a genie, would disappear and go back in the bottle. Sounds like a plan to me!

I could never get my urine alkaline. It didn’t matter what I ate or didn’t eat.  It was incredibly frustrating.  The test strips always said “5.5” I tossed the diet and the book.  I told myself I tried, and by God I did.  I immediately had a Dunkin Donut coffee because I was free of the diet stress.

Let’s get back to Earthing. So my first four days of Earthing I am sleeping on my little black pad which is connected to the ground in my wall outlet.  I was waiting on my fitted bed sheet to arrive.  I forgot that if you sweat at night the pad sticks to your back.  I get up in a daze to go to the bathroom and BAM the thing peels off my back and I realize, I was still connected.  It was a funny moment for me.  The things I do.  I felt like a slinky.  Anyway, the next day I get up and see those little test strips on the back of my toilet.

I pull one out just for kicks and giggles. I did not at the time even think consciously about Earthing.  I do the test and low and behold my PH is 6.5.  I said to myself-no way Jose! I tossed the strip. The next day I did it again, it was 7.0.  Now I have my own attention.  I continued this process for 23 days.  My PH was consistently 7.0-7.5.

Now I am a coffee drinker and a bourbon drinker. I am a healthy eater overall and I am eating gluten. There is zero special about my diet. Yet my PH is consistently where it is supposed to be according the internet. (Did I just say that?)   And I didn’t even try any kind of diet. What changed? What was new? Earthing was new.  Just saying.

After day four of a normal PH, I researched PH and what exactly does it measure?   Of course we all know it tells us our Acid versus Alkaline base.  But how does it do that?

“Our body PH at various levels of our body’s fluid organization is very important because PH controls the speed of our bodies biochemical reactions. It does this by controlling the speed of enzyme activity as well as the speed that electricity moves through the body.”

-BioMedx

Translated:  ACID PH means body is running hot and fast.  ALKALINE PH means the body is running slower and colder.  Ideal:  Middle, neutral. 7.4

Did you catch that key word?  Electricity?

Remember in Earthing you are connecting to Earth’s free electrons.  Dr. Mercola in his on-line newsletter states “The Earth carries an enormous negative charge.  It’s always electron rich and can serve as a powerful and abundant supply of antioxidant and free-radical-busting electrons.”

When you earth, you are trying to get your body’s electrical charge to neutral or zero.  Now my point on PH (this is me trying to connect the dots) is that by Earthing, and connecting to the earth’s energy-it is adjusting my body’s electrical charge to close to zero.  PH is measured by your body’s electrical flow as we discovered above, mine is now 7.5, the proper range.  I did nothing but sleep on a connected sheet, and do my yoga on a connected mat, and wear a connected band at my desk.

There are two PH’s in your body.  Blood PH (the really important one) that we cannot alter and Urine PH (the one everyone argues about controlling).  I don’t have all the answers I just know my PH is now where it should be at neutral and the only thing I did was Earth.  That has got to mean something.  See my recorded PH levels below by date.

PH Testing

Any time prior to earthing my PH was about 5.5

6/27/2016:  Five days after starting to earth    6.5

6/28/2016:  7

6/29/2016: 7.5-8(Earthing fitted sheet arrived…8 hours per night on sheet)

6/30/2016:  7

7/1/2016: 7.5

7/2/2016: 7

7/3/2016:  6.5

7/4/2016:  7.0

7/5/2016:  7.0

7/6/2016:  8.0

7/7/2016:  6.5

7/9/2016:  7.0

7/10/2016: 7.5

7/11/2016: 7.0

7/12/2016:  7.0

7/13/2016: 6.5

7/14/2016: 7.0

7/15/2016: 7.5

7/17/2016: 8.0

7/18/2016: 7.5

7/19/2016: 7.5

I am connecting the dots from the past experiences I had with PH where it never got above 5.5 Like Steve Jobs said, and I am going to trust my gut here, that it will benefit me now and in the future.

In the Earthing book Stephen Sinatra, Integrative Cardiologist, states his 40-year battle with Psoriasis ended after four months of Earthing.   Mine are gone in places and considerably less in others.  So I am trusting my gut that this may be true for me in the future.

It will be interesting to see. Let’s not forget the role inflammation plays out in our lives.  That’s all we hear, inflammation, inflammation and more inflammation. Keep your inflammation down and you will be healthy.  Make sure your C-Reactive protein is down; Alzheimer’s is diabetes of the brain---Inflammation is a known issue-address it. Could it be as easy as Earthing?  You decide.

Psoriasis is an overt sign of inflammation.  As they retreat, back into the genie bottle, I would assume that my inflammation is down. Probably everywhere in my body. That is goodness.

You have to agree-it is interesting to consider to say the least.

I will let you know my results as I continue with this process.  The jury is still out but my interest is peeked and very high.  I hope to have an evolving positive view.

One last thing; I was having lunch with a friend of mine and I was excitedly telling him about Earthing and PH.  He has a background in the electrical world.   He said well “you know the health of a data center is that it is grounded, has to be grounded to prevent static discharge” which can kill equipment if you didn’t know that.  Could that same static discharge from being disconnected from the earth  contribute to poor health-killing you?  May be.   He said everything I am saying makes sense. It was a compliment from him because he always has the other side of the story as contrast.

Somehow we got on the topic of sugar and discussed real sugar versus high fructose corn syrup.  He then said he heard beet sugar is the healthiest of all.  We didn’t know if that was true but what we did conclude is that beets, carrots, turnips, potatoes are all “root vegetables”.  They have fewer calories, the right kind of carbohydrates and are very nutritious.  Is that because they are rooted or “grounded” in the earth?  Many people think so.  If you want to be grounded and you are buying my premise of a good PH…get connected by Earthing and eat you some root veggies!  What do you have to lose?

Let me end with this quote from Tim Allen that made me laugh out loud:

Electricity can be dangerous. My nephew tried to stick a penny into a plug. Whoever said a penny doesn't go far didn't see him shoot across that floor. I told him he was grounded.

Tim Allen

Hey, being grounded is a good thing. Ask my PH.

Until next time,

Peace out.
